Google review removal & reputation management

Google reviews decide whether a local business gets the call. Google also publishes clear prohibited-content rules — which is exactly what makes a well-built case worth filing.

What Google does remove

  • ✓Fake engagement: reviews from accounts with no real interaction with your business
  • ✓Conflict of interest: reviews by competitors, former employees or people with a stake in harming you
  • ✓Off-topic content: complaints about a different location, a social issue or a third party
  • ✓Harassment, hate speech, profanity and personal attacks on staff
  • ✓Personal information: reviews that publish names, phone numbers or other private details
  • ✓Impersonation, advertising and spam posted as a review

What it will not remove

  • ✕Negative but genuine accounts of a real visit or purchase
  • ✕Reviews you believe are exaggerated but that describe a real interaction
  • ✕Star-only ratings from real customers with no text
  • ✕Old reviews that no longer reflect how you operate
  • ✕Reviews from customers you refused to serve, if the description is accurate
Our approach

How we handle Google cases

Whole-profile check

We map every review on the profile, not only the ones you flagged. Organised attacks usually leave a pattern across several accounts.

Official channels only

Reports go through Google's reporting flow and the appeal route in the Business Profile support path. No mass-flagging, no third-party accounts.

Appeals that cite policy

A first-round automated rejection is common. A properly cited appeal that quotes the specific prohibited-content clause is a different submission entirely.

Evidence

What helps a Google case succeed

  • ✓Screenshots of the review with visible date and reviewer name
  • ✓Your own records showing no matching customer, booking or transaction
  • ✓Evidence of the reviewer's pattern: identical text on other listings, review bursts, unrelated geography
  • ✓Any correspondence where the reviewer states a motive unrelated to service
  • ✓For former-employee cases, employment dates you are permitted to disclose
Policies change. Platforms revise their review rules regularly. We check the current published policy text at the time of your assessment rather than relying on what was true last year.
FAQ

Google questions

How long does a Google case take?+
Straightforward prohibited-content reports are often decided within days. Appeals take longer, and Google does not publish a service level. We report each decision as it lands.
Will Google tell me why it refused?+
Usually not in detail. That is why the initial case has to cite the specific policy clause — it is the only part of the process you can control.
Can removing reviews change my star rating?+
Yes. Removed reviews are excluded from the average, so the rating recalculates. How much it moves depends on your total review count.
Do you need access to my Business Profile?+
No. The assessment and the reports work from the public listing. Access is only relevant if you later ask us to publish responses on your behalf.
