Platform coverage

Yelp review removal & reputation management

Yelp is the strictest of the major platforms about what a business may do, and the most opaque about what it filters. Both facts shape how a case must be built.

What Yelp does remove

  • ✓Reviews with conflicts of interest: competitors, employees, the owner's own network
  • ✓Content unrelated to a consumer experience with your business
  • ✓Threats, harassment, hate speech, lewd content and privacy violations
  • ✓Reviews that describe second-hand accounts rather than the reviewer's own visit
  • ✓Demonstrably false statements of fact, where documentation exists

What it will not remove

  • ✕Negative reviews from genuine customers, regardless of tone
  • ✕Reviews Yelp's software has already filtered as 'not recommended'
  • ✕Ratings a business considers unfair but cannot disprove
  • ✕Reviews that mention prices, wait times or staff conduct accurately
Our approach

How we handle Yelp cases

Guideline-cited reports

Yelp responds to specific guideline breaches, not to appeals about fairness. Every report we file names the clause.

No solicitation, ever

Yelp prohibits asking customers for reviews. We will not build a Yelp invitation programme, and any provider offering one is putting your listing at risk.

Public response craft

Because Yelp removes less, the public reply carries more weight here than on any other platform. We treat it as the primary tool, not the fallback.

Evidence

What helps a Yelp case succeed

  • ✓Documentation that no transaction or visit took place
  • ✓Evidence of a competitive or personal relationship with the reviewer
  • ✓Screenshots showing the same account posting coordinated reviews
  • ✓Records contradicting a specific factual claim in the review
Policies change. Platforms revise their review rules regularly. We check the current published policy text at the time of your assessment rather than relying on what was true last year.
FAQ

Yelp questions

Why did my positive reviews disappear?+
Yelp's recommendation software filters reviews it considers unreliable, including many from new accounts. Filtered reviews still exist but do not count towards your rating, and businesses cannot appeal that filtering.
Can I ask customers to review me on Yelp?+
No. Yelp explicitly prohibits review solicitation, and enforcement includes consumer alerts placed on the business page. We follow that rule strictly.
Is a Yelp case worth filing?+
When there is a real guideline breach, yes. When there is not, we will tell you that a strong public response is the better investment.
What is a consumer alert?+
A warning Yelp places on a business page when it detects compensated or solicited reviews. It is far more damaging than the reviews it replaces, and it is avoidable.
