Platform coverage

Glassdoor review removal & reputation management

Glassdoor protects reviewer anonymity harder than any consumer platform, and candidates read it before they apply. Employer reputation is therefore won mostly on response and volume, not removal.

What Glassdoor does remove

  • ✓Content naming or identifying individual employees
  • ✓Discriminatory language, threats and harassment
  • ✓Confidential or proprietary company information
  • ✓Reviews from people who were never employed at or interviewed by the company
  • ✓Advertising, spam and duplicate submissions

What it will not remove

  • ✕Negative opinions about management, pay or culture
  • ✕Reviews from former employees who left on bad terms
  • ✕Criticism you consider one-sided but that reflects a genuine tenure
  • ✕Reviews you would like attributed — Glassdoor will not reveal a reviewer's identity
Our approach

How we handle Glassdoor cases

Guideline reports

We file where content names individuals, discloses confidential material or breaches conduct rules — the grounds Glassdoor actually enforces.

Employer responses

Official responses are the main lever here. We draft replies that acknowledge substance without breaching confidentiality or hinting at who the reviewer might be.

Volume strategy

A compliant internal campaign inviting all staff to review — never only the happy ones — is what moves an employer rating over a quarter.

Evidence

What helps a Glassdoor case succeed

  • ✓The specific sentence that identifies an individual or discloses confidential material
  • ✓Evidence that no employment or interview relationship existed
  • ✓A record of internal policies the review misstates as fact
  • ✓Dates and roles you are legally permitted to reference
Policies change. Platforms revise their review rules regularly. We check the current published policy text at the time of your assessment rather than relying on what was true last year.
FAQ

Glassdoor questions

Can we find out who wrote a review?+
No. Glassdoor does not disclose reviewer identity, and pursuing it is a reputational risk in itself. Cases are built on content, not authorship.
Can we ask employees to post reviews?+
You can invite all employees to share honest feedback. Requiring positive reviews, scripting them or pressuring staff breaches Glassdoor's rules and tends to be obvious in the text.
Should we respond to every review?+
Respond to substantive ones, especially where a policy has since changed. Silence on a recurring complaint reads as confirmation.
Does Glassdoor remove reviews from people who were never employees?+
It can, where the company can show no employment or interview record exists. That evidence has to come from you.
